This Dutch Shoe Project was on hometalk a few days ago and I fell in love with it! Seeing how I am Dutch, I decided I was going to do this for myself! I always wondered all these years, what I was going to do with all my Dutch shoes, so I was very happy to see this post. It was so easy, even though I didn't follow the instructions exactly, it worked just fine. I'll explain what I did differently.
I started with two pieces of a fence that my Son took down from his yard. I chalk painted them and then had my partner put a little piece of wood across the two boards in three different places. One at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. She then drilled drainage holes in the bottom of each shoe and then screwed them to the fence posts. Trust me, these shoes are not walking anywhere! I then planted the succulents and there you have it!

I used chalk paint I already had, I obviously had the shoes, and the only items we purchased were the screws and the succulents. Total project was $15.00.

My Mother had a set of these given to her from her sister, when her sister was over seas. What happened to them I'll never KNOW.......she is gone and so are they.......Anyway, they are a sweet project......thank you for the memories.

I will add that I would seal them with something made for outside. I didn't and the decoration on the shoes peeled off. I didn't think about it until it was too late.
