Help! I over waxed my kitchen table. I am attempting to even out the finish but it just keeps getting shinier and streakier. I have 2 coats on now and was planning on a third. I have waited 24 hours between coats and would like to finish this project. Thanks, Colleen

If you wax over the wet wax, possibly it will help remove some of the other wax. Be sure to buff ALOT, Im talking Karate Kid over here!! Buff on, Buff off, this creates a smooth and non shiny finish! Hope this helps!!

If all else fails you can also use odorless mineral spirits and clean rags to remove the wax and begin again with fresh wax. MS is a solvent for wax, but not Chalk Paint® so your paint will be fine. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help. I applied the third coat last night and really buffed off the extra wax. Still have a lot of buffing to do today. Hopefully I get a good finish. Whew!

Many folks over apply wax...the amount needed is much smaller than you might think...When I wax my custom furniture I use about a table spoon to do an average sized dinning table. I use Briwax.

If you must use toxic waxes, get a very small amount out of the container like KMS said on a paper plate and use very sparingly, sometimes it grabs the paint more than other times. Are you not wanting a shiney finish or is it because it is getting streaky. The more you buff the more sheen you are going to get. Here is a great how to. How are you applying?
