Trash treasures

I found this wishing well on someones trash pile. It was quite the feat getting it home as I do not own a truck. We tied it in the trunk of my car (half sticking out). I liked that it was rustic looking and didn't want to lose that affect. What do you think?

Sandra this is a real "one man's trash" story!! It looks like you painted or stained it as well.. Good Job!!

A friend gave me hers several years ago (her ex had given it to her when they were together so she was purging LOL). Fortunately, we did have a truck. We put a large plasic tub inside (filled it w/water and a small inexpensive pump) attached a watering can to the rope - added fishing line so ...»

it would be tilted in the pouring position - oh and clear plastic tubing running from the water thru the bottom of the watering can and Wa La - it looks like the can is continually pouring water!!! My husband stapled a piece of screening across the top of the tub & attached it to the inside of the well to keep out debris - and we already had electricity so he just dug a trench and buried the cord in pvc pipe. Whew- this was so long ago I'd forgotten exactly what we did!! We love it & it's so peaceful to sit on the deck, watch the birds and listen to the water sprinkling out of the can!!!

Thank you everyone. Yes, I did spray paint it a little and then painted the rails black. I planted vinca vine in it and looking for a wooden bucket.

Sandra, I L-O-V-E it!!!! It is absolutely beautiful! I can't believe that someone was throwing it away! It was SO their loss!!!! You did a gorgeous job. And Susan, yours is beautiful as well. A different take on both of them. My husband and I are buying a house in about a year (we ALMOST have the money for the down payment), and I can not wait to get one of these. We had one in our yard when I was growing up living with my grandparents and I have always wanted one since then! ...»
Thank you SO much for sharing. It brings back such wonderful memories!

Glad to see these wishing wells brought back to life. There's something so nostalgic about them.

That is a great find and it looks beautiful. Recycle is wonderful for all of us and the environment, too. Make a wish!
