Bahroom Nightmare to a Dream

when I first stepped foot in this outdated abandoned bathroom I nearly got sick.. How can anyone relax in a bath in there! Or take a nice hot shower feeling refreshed?....
First off.. The shower door that was sticky had to go. Same with the, "oh my god what is that!" toilet. And the radiator.. I don't even want to know what it was left left all these years while this house sat abandoned.. The sick looked sad and the mirror with rust all around its edges has just lost its appeal.. And don't even get me started on the laminate "tile" wall and floor! This was looking more scary as I stare at this photo...
A bright peachy orange wall was behind all that laminate.. I was getting more confused on what this bathroom was suppose to feel like.. I loved the bath tub nice size and clean too. So that was a keeper
Everything was out of line. Even the door way was uneven.. Always something we do when renovating is to double check everything that leads to the actual structure so that it's fixed then and there and no having to fix it later without doing damage to your new fittings or decor etc..
Tiling time! So I decided on 600mm X 600mm tiles for the hallway, kitchen and bathroom all same colour as trying to do this house on a budget and I managed to get a great deal.
Starting to feel a bit more open now. Still needed a new shower door, sink, mirror toilet and radiator.. Bargain hunting here I come!
And because the shower is the first thing you see when walking from the kitchen, I wanted it to reflect class and not just stick out like a boring sore thumb! Cause you must admit, sometimes we leave the bathroom door open when we leave it! :)
It doesn't look as scary like it did with the blue! :) but still don't let the guard down now!
My dad managed to find a great deal on the shower door sink and toilet. And the towel rail was icing on the cake and it only cost 20 euro!
Soooooooo much better than before! Now the mirror... Don't you hate it when everything is going smoothly and the smallest thing ends up being the biggest one? .. Long story short. I needed a big mirror. Couldn't find one to suit. So I checked good home talk and Pinterest for ideas.. Then someone had face lifted their mirror with glass tiles.. Oh my god! Brilliant!
So I started with this.. The original mirror from the bathroom.. What to do.. So I went looking..
I found glass tiles! I loved how they had both the brown and cream similar look in them that I have got going on in the bathroom now.. And it's shiny! Ooooooo!!! I'll post the after of the mirror on my next post! :)

Hello, I know I am ahead of things but it looks to me a very big bathroom. What have you for-seen to make it cosy? And what about rangements of towels and so? What have you in mind as lightsources exept for the light on the mirror?

I'm always appreciative of the small things I might over look as the bigger things can get distracting. Would you believe I can't seem to think of the perfect main lighting. Still looking on that (the whole house is being done up and still a good bit away from being livable) and yes you're spot on about the size. It's pretty big! The furnishings will be next thing to focus on. It's so confusing for a first timer like myself doing my first ever renovation decoration so any advice or examples would be of great help! As for towels, my family (parents and brothers) keep their own towels in their rooms on the radiators, an Irish thing. So only need to think of hand towels and guest towels. Low maintenance is the goal for this bathroom.. So you can imagine my job ahead of me... Exhausting! :/

I admire your courage. It will fall into place, you will see. Like you said, one step at a time. a tip : a feature or painting/drawings against the wall do wonders. Maybe, if you have rests of those glass tiles, make yourself a feature of mosaic.
