How to clean the heavily rusted off chrome with out leaving scratch marks?

hi..there is a wonderful post on HT about removing rust etc from chrome with foil and water..really, and i tried it and it works!

You can try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Test in a hidden area.

Try the foil like Bernice suggested. I know Magic Eraser can remove rust stains but I'm not sure it can remove actual rust from corrosion.
