DIY Oil Candle

Today’s thirty project requires you to drink a beer, you okay with that? Ya I thought so. :) Or I suppose you could juts have a really cool funky bottle of any sort, but let’s face it, a beer bottle candle is way more edgy and hip. We are all about hip here, tee hee. So with that said grab a beer bottle, some lamp oil and a funnel.
Now to start the easiest project ever! Simply pour your oil through a funnel into your bottle.
Next drop your wick and ceramic wick holder into place. Wait a few hours before lighting because the wick needs to absorb the oil.
Time to set the ambiance!! Love that color and flame, just be sure to have away from doggies and kiddos since it would be pretty darn easy to tip over!!
Burn baby burn!!

I love the idea and have saved lots of similar bottles from World Market French Lemonade to make all manner of things, including oil lanterns. If tipping is a concern, you can use glass marbles, gems or cleaned and dried pebbles, such as vase filler found in most craft stores, to add weight to the bottle. I made a similar oil lamp from an nifty olive oil bottle. We cut a hole in the center of the metal screw on cap to feed the wick through, bypassing the need to buy the wick holder. At the grocery store, I accidentally discovered some little metal condiment cups, which I tip over the wick for a dousing cap. I haven't gotten to it yet, but I will be drilling a small hole in the edge of the cap to attach a piece of chain to it, which I will loop around the bottle neck to keep it handy, like they have on a tiki torch.
