    I was at Country Tractor (or whateve the store name islike that) over the weekend and they have new wagan whells for $25.00. They look basically he same, except no rust. That's a big difference beween ne and old (the guy wuldn't barter), and one day the new one I get will become an antique anyway. I don't think the hebs will mind...

    I'm w/you Terri. I make do on a lot of things because of my budget. In today's economic times, we all should do that

    You got that right Debi - save wherever and however we can. I'm getting a lot of used tires for free this year to paint & decorate over the winter, as well as a ton of free skids to break down into walkways, build hanging succulent and herb gardens w/ and planter boxes. Free to me + labor = hopefully sell some at markets and craft shows (please, oh pretty please let people be willing to spend a few dollars on stuff I make.

    We are on the same page. I am also doing many crafts in order to supplement our income. I attend a lot of yard/estate sales and auctions, always looking for bargains and things to fix up for resale. I am amazed at what I have found at times for pennies on the dollar. Its a lot of work, but it is helping to pay the bills. I've added a craft section to my web page, so keep in touch w/me and let me know how you're doing w/your crafts.

    @ Debi - you have to send me your web page address, so I can access it. You can email me directly too, if you want at tmj1819@yahoo.com. We have to helpeach other make it thru this terrible financial times, and I am sure many of us have ideas that we can exchange together.

    @Terri - hey girl! We haven't "talked" in a while!!! Ya know if you leave that wagon wheel out long enuff it'll start rusting on its own. But. . . if you want to hurry it along, spray it w/metal primer then get several brown, tan, black colors of craft paint and sponge the colors on to make it start looking rusted!!

    @Debi - I didn't know you had a web page. I'd love to go snooping around too!! ; ~) ...»

    As to being resourceful . . . I think being forced to become much more economical has also had an unintended but positive consequence. I know I've dug a lot deeper into the hidden recesses of my "creativeness", plus seeing all the fabulous ideas on HT (Like yours) has helped me revive my inner artistic expression! LOL How's THAT for a big ole mouthful of gibberish!!!

    @Ah - thank you!! Well, isn't LIFE in general a "work in progress"?? If not, then we're pushing up daisies!! Watch for my tire planter post as soon as camera charges!!

    I love this. How easy is it to pick from the center though?

    @ Susan S - it has been a while, and I keep trying to catch ya. Only problem I am having w/ digging deeper into my "creativity" is it still wants to leave my pockets empty - al least for now. I think of more and more stuff to do, and have actually started a list that is now 1.5 pages long. I won't be bored this winter for sure. Get in touch w/ me lady!!! Miss our chats...

    @Crystal R - Unless you get a really humongous wheel, it really isn't that far from the edge of the wheel to the center. Look back at the pic - I'm considered "vertically challenged" and I think I could reach to the center!! LOL

    @Terri - well, good grief - here it is the 8th of July and I'm just now getting a chance to see this post again. I used to be able to keep up and now everytime I look @my Notifications its in ...»

    the double/triple digits!!!! I know what you mean about that TO DO list. Then we've had those really killer HOT 100 + days. I just don't do the heat thing but storms blew thru earlier this eve. so next week we should have temps in 80's. Hopefully I can get to finish some things!!

    @Debi - thank you - I'm putting that in my email addres book and will definitely check it out.

    @ Susan, we just missed each other, but yes, that was a great storm that came thru. I am so excisted only b/c it is supposed to drip into mid 80's next week. Only down side is - back to mowing the yard. Enjoy the cool weather while we can..

    I have been growing herbs for many years; the problem with this is that most herbs will branch out and continue to grow! There is not enough space between these to stay this cute. ;) I recommend leaving each plant at least 3 square feet of its own space.

    On the humerous side, don't forget to label which is which. There is a huge taste difference between dill and anise. My ex-brother-in-law did this in his rock garden he "planted" around and old tree stump.

    I did this with a wooden wheel years ago .. and painted the wheel a bright orange... unfortunately the wood is rotting so the iron wheels sounds like a great idea. Trying to think of something else that would be attractive but not made out of wood.
