I got this idea from pinterest and just had to do it! It took my hubby all day to cut out the planting trough, but I think it is worth it. It looks great.
The finished product
The amount of sawdust made from cutting out the trough was enough to mulch our strawberry patch and tomatoes.
The wood blocks taken out. Each one at a time.
The hubby made the trough 14 inches deep.

    you really have to keep an eye on plants in logs - they can either dry out or drown. Oh, make sure you don't use treated lumber or old rail ties. very nice looking log-planter.
