Will somebody tell me why the motion detector light by the driveway turns on in daylight but not at night??!

The photo cell has probably gone bad. -
Power outages can also "trip" the light into a manual mode. Turn off the switch for a few minutes then turn it back on. If it resets your good to go...if not it may be the photocell ( which can be replaced with out the whole light in some models)
