Transportation Themed Big Boy Room with a SECRET (shhh...)

My son's life revolves around cars, trains, planes, and boats... so, that's what we gave him! For a design style, I gravitate towards sophisticated kids' room ideas but also feel a child's room should be calm, warm and friendly. Plus, this room holds a secret-- that road on the wall? It's created with tintable chalkboard paint so my son can doodle to his heart's content. Here are the elements that all came together to create our "Big Boy" transportation themed bedroom!
It may be his "big boy room", but we're not ready to move on from the crib just yet...
Use vintage blocks perched on a bookcase to spell out a word that best describes your child!
This simple (and interchangeable) embroidery hoop art display brings color and texture to the room.
Don't forget to add personal touches (like this vintage lantern from my husband's grandmother).
A coverlet in bold and happy colors contributes to the fun transportation theme.
This tutorial (link is in the post, below) on how to build a "chalkboard road" will have your little one revving up their engines!
