Ideas to repurpose this decorative item

by Vickybeekman
I have these two decorative items but the glass container is broken for one of them. Any ideas what I could use the other one for?
(Note: as I finish this post and was in the process of putting things away, I knocked the one with the glass container and it over and it broke. So now I have to decorative frames and need ideas for. Thank you!)

Sorry to hear you broke the glass. If you are into contemporary or modern you could spray them black or another colour .You could then buy or make balls out of dried vine to sit inside or larger ones to sit on top. If you don't like the brown of the balls you could spray the any colour you like. Good luck. I would leave the hart gold.

I have done that numerous times. No worries spray paint them in a different color and utilize them as plant stands inside or out. They work perfectly.

Or...buy some glass for the tops and used them as tables.

I like the idea of adding glass tops and using these as side tables but it looks like they are sitting on a tabletop or chair and may not be as big as they appear in the photo. @Jean Myles suggestion of grapevine spheres sounds interesting . You could also insert a large moss sphere. Painting the stands would certainly work. If you'd use them as plant stands you would still need a vessel to put the plant I which might be hard to find. IMO using them for something utilitarian would detract from the unique style of the stands.

just put a pretty plate on the top, and one on the bottom too(or bowls) . since they are small, they would be great little side tables for a drink on top and a knick knack on the bottom. or since they were made for flowers, you actually could put flowers in them. I think they are unique and pretty.

depending on size...ice bucket/wine bottle holder? You could insert a large, cylindrical, clear, acrylic or glass vase and fill will ice or the wine bottle...I also like the idea of putting willow or moss spheres in them or gazing balls of some sort. If they are small you could insert $ store drinking glasses/small jars/vase and use in a bathroom to store Q-tips and the like...or coloured marbles, sea glass etc...

those look quite small- noticed the hair clips in the L one. looks for a clear glass jar-(IKEA has lots with great sizes) to fit -buy 2,, in case the other breaks also.. apothocary style don't use the lids.. you could also use it as a plant stand for a small plant.. fern or ORCHID would be great for a bathroom/vanity. save time--be sure to Take THE STAND WITH YOU WHEN YOU HUNT.. WILL SAVE MUCH ANGUISH ...

If they are small, you can use them as a candle holder, put sand in the bottom of a tall cylinder glass and put a tacll or fat candle inside.

You may be able to replace the glass or find something better at a craft store like hobby lobby or Michael's

I have one that's almost identical, minus the glass. I measured it and went to Goodwill and a couple of the other thrift stores, about every couple weeks, and finally found a candle holder that fit. Bought them both for around $5, sold them together for $19. Patience, and persistence does pay.

A circle of glass set on top and it's a cute table.

Vicki, I'm curious as to what you will do, will you post the finished product?

If you hang them upside down - one of them - would make a really nice hanging light - or find a glass deep dish and use for ice to chill wine - also consider very large round gold fish bowl on top and plant underneath - you can also make a flower or fern holder by placing a wire moss lined planter with chain from the edges and let it hang about half way down. depending on height - sofa table with beautiful reclaimed wooden top or even marble over both of them - if shorter they will could be used for coffee table - try turning them upside down to see if you spark more ideas
