Faux or lightweight concrete walls for garden

I am seeking info on making/sculpting low walls and borders by taking metal lath, screen wire or something and covering it with layers of concrete or stucco for use in my garden. I had saw some made with a styrofoam base and covered with a concrete mix but would be interested in any experience you have had on a project of this sort- thanks!

This would depend a bit on "scale" I have seen some great garden walls that used straw bales as the "core". These are covered with lath a "mudded" just like matching strawbale homes. scaling these down would require a "core" material that can take the weight of the concrete. regular dimension lumber could work, you just need to cover it with a moisture barrier. Tar paper in commonly used for this.

I once seen a video of a guy who piled up a bunch of ugly rock, broken concrete and just chunked on the cement. After he had it all filled in,he threw different concrete stains over it to look like real stone. and then proceeded to sculpt it into boulder shapes. Basic mortar used. Hope that helps.
