Need a gift idea? Want to capture a piece of your family to have forever? Try this family heirloom art - it's easy, everyone gets to be involved, and it's a great gift idea for Mother's/Father's Day, Christmas, Birthdays, etc.

You will need the following: Colored poster board White paper Picture frame Scissors Glue Acrylic Paint in colors of your choice Optional "family" mirror sticker (mine came from the Dollar Tree)
First I drew a heart shape on my piece of paper - this is the shape I wanted in my picture frame.
Have your family members take turns dipping their fingers in paint and pressing it into the heart shape. We did some practice runs so they could see how much paint to use. Let dry completely
Cut your poster board to the size of the frame you bought. Cut your heart out and glue it into your poster board. You can leave it simple with the heart only or put your optional mirror sticker on underneath.
Put your art into your frame. This next picture is without the glass to see it without the glare better.
These are with the glass on.
Here is another option for heirloom art. For this one we each picked our favorite colors, dipped our hands in the paint and placed on the paper. Let the paint of each person's hand dry completely before adding the next persons. For those of you who are interested, here is the link to our fingerprint tree art I posted http://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/rooms/family-fingerprint-tree-11007334
Here's a little better picture with less glare from the glass. We love our family artwork, and now I have fingerprints and handprints forever.

I have gotten some very nice ideas from you to make with my Lil neices and nephews! It's going to be a great time to show them how to make special homemade from the heart gifts for the holidays. THANK YOU FOR SHARING 💞.
