Sewing Machine Trestle and Butcher Block Table

My neighbor had this old sewing machine trestle base rusting outside in her yard and asked me, "can you do something with this?"
You know it!
After spraying it with a can of black paint, I fastened the base with bolts to a butcher block countertop end left over from a friend's kitchen makeover. All I had to do is sand one side and oil it.

Flipped it over! Done!

Easiest project I think I've ever done.

Easy kitchen island... on wheels, too!

Beautiful! I have my grandmother's treadle (Singer) sewing machine which I'd like to restore. What did you use to remove the rust? Also, which brand and color paint (& primer?) did you apply? I like brown and black together. You did a great job.
