Updating our Master Bathroom on the cheap...

Our Master Bath has been blah, outdated and utilitarian - topped off with a dark old green striped wallpaper. My poor husband spent an 8 hr day stripping it with a rented steamer, then another patching and another painting (Valspar Desert Flower). In the near future he will be taking on tiling the floor and backsplash. The decor I hunted down at T.J. Maxx, Marshall's, Target, Lowe's and Walmart, all working off the theme of the flowered shower curtain. I made the window covering in under 2 hours with fusible tape, and made a watercolor painting of the flowers, cut it up and framed it in a random pattern. It is almost a shame to have to get going and go to work after getting ready in my "new" bathroom each morning.

Wow. Hubby really loves you. Hope he has earned some weekend passes for golf or Yankees games or whatever he likes to do.

It looks great. Kudos to both of you.

Well done! I love that fist vase too. Sounds like you really know what you were doing by using the shower curtain as your jumping off point for the entire theme. Looks beautiful.

Just goes to show that you can update and make something beautiful on even a small budget. Those are my favorite projects!

Looks great, amazing how things look so different with just simple and easy changes. The floor will be the finishing touch. I've framed a lot of things but never thought to frame shower curtain to match room. Love this idea, thanks.

I would paint the base cabinet black to match the shelf; or the very deepest brown; it would look amazing.

looks like a great start....if and when you tackle the floor, some travertine would match that wall color nicely.

Well done! I don't know if painting the cabinet is a good idea, unless you go all the way and paint all the other woodwork as well. It's a preference and your choice.

Thanks for the great comments! **blush** Kathy R. I tried to do just that in our guest bath and because it is "finished" polyed over woodwork, you can't paint or stain. Thank goodness I experimented on the inside of a cabinet door...streaky miserable results. I should find those photos and post those. Thanks again!

Do you have a pattern or a link to how you did your no-sew curtain?

Kudos to hubby...I also took wallpaper off the walls of four bathrooms, in two different houses. Two bathrooms had two layers of wallpaper and it is a pain...but I love your results. P.S. I like using the vinegar process instead of steam to remove wallpaper.

@Sarah, sorry, I haven't been back here in awhile and just saw your question. This is the link (to Shari and Matt, formerly of HGTV) Her design is curved, I just folded mine into a point: http://www.mattandshari.com/no-sew-projects/...
