How do I get rid of tiny black ants in my house?

The ants just keep finding ways to get into our brick house. This time they came in from the corner space in the floor boards. We have sprinkled ant food killer outside of the windows and we didn't see them for a week but now they are back.
The neighbors said that they have them too.

  • Ants are looking for two things. Moisture and food. The food part is what makes the poison work as they feed on this material. You need to determine where the moisture is. Could be tiny holes in brick that are collecting water within the wall, or perhaps a plugged weep hole in the brick siding not allowing the brick to dry out after a rain. Incorrectly caulked windows and doors also can cause this issue. You may also want to think about using a lawn spray for insects. Many of these ants are simply checking out new areas in which to feed. Only returning to the outside of the house to their nests. Look for the tiny burrows and mounds of sand that they produce when digging into the ground. We had them last year in our house. I treated the lawn and after a few days then disappeared. In your case and your neighbors I think your insect sources are from the lawns outside. But in any case, try to determine where they could be nesting and use chemical sprays or ideally bait to remove the nesting issue. Find the damp area and you will find the ants.

I use a home made remedy 1 to 1 ratio baking soda and icing sugar . Put it in small amount I use small pieces of wax paper or tin foil . Put a teaspoon of the mixture on the foil or paper . put it anywhere you think they are coming in . Ants will be gone in a couple of days.
