String of mason jar outside lights

Brenda De Lair on Jun 11, 2013Maybe if you used silicone to fill in the holes? Something that would be used to seal the space and keep the water from getting in would possibly work. Your large hardware store should be able to steer you in the right direction.Helpful Reply

Diane Carlisle on Jun 12, 2013The jar lids need to have vents for the heat from the bulbs to escape. This is one tutorial I found that seemed to make sense. http://theycallmedomesticate.com/2012/07/how-to-make-mason-jar-lights-diy-string-light/Helpful Reply

Marci N on Jun 13, 2013Using LED lights they would stay cool. I know they make them in different shapes, perhaps ones that look like old light bulbs? Or would it make that much a difference? Wonder if you could just screw the lid over the wire to make it waterproof? Would have to be thin wires, course I have some LED lighted dragonflies that are solar and they have a very thin wires. Sadly the solar thing is not working anymore so they aren't. Unless I figure a way to attach them to my lights.....Or to a battery.Helpful Reply

Edith Magee on Jun 14, 2013The lids do not screw over the wires The water gets in between the socket & the lid. The jars do not get hot . I thought the hose washers would make then water proof . But they take up to much space & now the bulbs don't screw in all the way. I will try the chaulking that somebody suggested Thank YouHelpful Reply
