I want to use glass light shades outside somehow, help!

I have five of these glass light shades that I bought a thrift store. I am in the processing of redoing my covered patio in different shades of blue. I need suggestions for the patio, garden area or to make windchimes/crafts. Thanks.

Those shades are so pretty! If you set the shade in the dirt of your garden with the opening end up you could set a solar light inside (not on the stake, just the light portion). It would be a colorful accent and charge in the sun during the day and then provide a softened blue light at night.

They are beautiful - have you checked their actual value on an antique glass site? The Art Deco period had organic, very colourful light shade designs, Type antique glass art deco light shades into google - there are many sites to look at. Good Luck.

I like the idea of solar lights in the garden, though you will need some kind of stake to either raise the light or keep it from getting toppled.... Have you searched this site for the ideas of others. You could repurpose old candle holders and use the glass on that to create a candle holder or that solar light...

@Deborah.covington If you have a local thrift shop, look for candle holders there you can use for bases or it you see cheap lamps use your imagination. Saw a project where they took an old lamp, took it apart, painted it and added the glass. They would look great in different heights and even different shapes. Just make sure they are bold enough to offset the size of the shade. If you have any of those led candles, see how they look in the shade.
