This little table needed some lovin. I picked it up at a yard sale for $20. I have been carving other wooden items and I thought "Why not a table Top"? The top was very thick.
This is how I found this little table . In need of some love.
The top was real thick
My Dogwoods were in bloom so I picked a few flowers to get the dimensions right . Then I drew them on the table freehand . I used my burning tool for the outline and the detailing on the flowers and then I use my carving tools to carve out around the flowers.
I used a pink and white chalk paint and then worked the antiquing wax into the detail on the flowers.
I sanded the rest of the table and used the wax on it.
I treid to get pictures to show the carving detail
Pinted the little knob black so it would stand out a bit
Waited on the sun to go down a bit to get a better angle shot

Franny, do you mind if I ask how long you have been doing wood carving? This is so totally amazing and beautiful. It inspires me to investigate learning to do wood carving. Your item is so unique and creative that they would really sell for big $$$ in gift shops. What talent!!

It's a well done job but can you put a cup or glass on the table? Looks like it may tip over.

Just beautiful! A piece of glass would enable you to use it for holding a glass but it's pretty spectacular. Wouldn't want to cover it though. lol
