Hardwood keeps the room cleaner and you have less dust throughout. It also looks soooo beautiful!!

Hard surface floors for me, I would never have wall to wall carpeting in my home. An area rug yes but no carpeting.

I have hardwood floors in my bedroom & opted for wall to wall carpet because I got tired of 3 process cleaning of dog hair. I have miles of hardwood on the main floor, or so it seems when I mop!

Hardwood is beautiful ~ but it's the comfort, quiet, and warmth of carpet for us. Rugs just don't cover enough.

I have to agree Lee Anne. Our dog has long hair and I would much rather vacuum than mop all the time from dog hair and dust which seems to be there all the time, no matter how often I mop! I'll be going with either wall to wall or a large area rug soon because enough is enough. :)

Hardwoods - carpet collects too much dust and dirt. Hardwood is easier to clean and move furniture on. You can always add an area rug.

I have a rombi robot vacuum that I named Jarvis. Jarvis goes under the bed and really does a great job keeping it clean. I also vacuum in the traditional manner.

I bought my house a year ago and it has carpet throughout. I want to gradually change it to hardwood and tile with runners and rugs.

I prefer hardwood with nice rugs on either side of the bed. Very good for those with allergies; the small rugs can be washed often. Full carpeting is difficult to keep really clean under the bed.

Have carpet in my CA home, tile in vacation home in FL. I really prefer carpet under my bare feet.If you live in a lace where you get all four seasons, I'd go with carpet, or at least an area rug.

I get all 4 Seasons and I really hate the feel of bare floors. I have wood throughout the house and do not like 'throw rug/area rug hopping' all the time to avoid the floor. At least my bedroom will have carpeting

Hardwood for sure. We use area rugs for warmth and traction for our 13 yr old dog. I use my Kirby to vacuum all the floors becuae it gets all the dust/fur bunnies and the dirt that get brought in by everybody.

I have had both and enjoyed both. The hardwoods remind you of all the dust and dirt that you cannot see in the carpet. The carpeting gets dirty.

Hardwoods hands down. However, I live in FL so I don't have very many weeks to be subjected to cold floors. We do have a wooden floor also in the M/B.

We bought a circa '70's home, and there are hardwoods all through out the main level. When I bought the house I was a Realtor and one of the gents on my office sold it the first time..and said - aren't you just loving those hardwood floors??' - No they had all been covered with berber wall to wall.. Last summer I pulled out the LR and DR - and they were gorgeous....guest room - weren't 100% - nad need to get spriced up...still have 2 BR's to go. that's the project for this fall!! I do ...»
love the hardwood....and they aren't cold - and we are in CT.
