Love the bold colors? Or hate the "stripes"?
Tigerwood (ASTRONIUM FRAXINIFOLIUM) is a beautiful exotic Brazilian hardwood which provides one of the most unique patterns you will ever see. Because of its incredible beauty, tigerwood is highly sought after for both interior and exterior applications. From doors to musical instruments to flooring and decking, tigerwood is a great choice and an excellent alternative for those looking for a light-colored wood but prefer something harder and more exotic than maple or beech.
Tigerwood is one of our favorite choices for a butcher block countertop!
I love it...

This is a problem with many of the tropical lumber species. Witness mahogany which in many cases is not true Honduran mahogany at all - or some of the South American 'cedars' ...»
Another example is Merantii, which may encompass up to four hundred individual species in the SE Asia and south Pacific area.
