Becky Sue....many thanks for the info. Now I have a new toy for some of my customers. I know of at least 20 devices I can install as soon as I get my hands on them..

Especially clever is the "mis-wire" indicator. Great for the DIYer who may crross the hot and neutrals

    What about surge protection?

Id have to assume (which Im reluctant to say out loud) .. using this would be no worse than using the standard adapter to pull in your devices in any outlet.

Becky Sue- probably not any worse. I do advise my clients to use surge protectors on electronics that could be affected by surges. You could also get whole house surge protection as well. Regardless- it is still a pretty interesting find. Thanks for sharing.

They would make grest presents for my children and granddaughters. We al have have so many gizmos that need changing. And the fact that you can charge 2 at a time and still have the plugs available. Worth the money.

Very cool. We have used them in the past and the customer loved them.

Becky Sue - what did you think of KBIS this year?

KBIS was good! Sad to see the trade shows get smaller every year, this year it was 1/3 the size from 4yrs ago. But.. it had been 3yrs since I went, so I really appreciated it all. Quality time to visit with mfgs :-) Disappointment was not seeing but a couple of appliance and cabinet mfgs.

Re: Surge protection.. Cutler Hammer makes a whole house surge protection system with a $75,000.00 attached equipment warranty. The system consists of a circuit panel module, a telephone module and a cable module.. Worth every penny of the $400 - 500 investment

I added a whole house surge protector to my house just to be safe. The installation at the panel by our electrician was $200. It helps me feel better about electrical storms and power outages.

By any chance did you see one that wasn't installed? The receptacle boxes are usually pretty full, I'm wondering how the extra fits into a normal sized box?

The panel surge protector either replaces a double pole 20Amp breaker (Seimens) or is connected to the panel on the outside (Cutler Hammer) so there is always space for the module. I will post links with a detailed explanation of "Surge" and some surge protectors.

I prefer Cutler Hammer because of their warranty.

Thanks for sharing @Land Too many of our clients don't protect their equipment and can lose thousands if not protected. Especially home theaters.

BeckySue, you should plan a 2014 trip to Eurocucina and skip KBIS, then you can really see the future of the kitchen from a host of manufacturers and appliance companies. Sadly it takes many years for some of the best things to get released in the US with all of the UL processes.

well if you are planning on it then here are some tips. Book air and hotel as far in advance as possible. The hotels in Milan are horribly expensive during this week. There are some much better hotel deals on the opposite side of town just get one close to the red line subway as it goes into the fair building.

What a great idea! Now let's hope they don't change the device power cord as they usually do just to make us buy it all again...
