Special Garden Effects... With JUNK

My garden is never done. EEEEEVER. So it should come as no surprise that I'd much rather raise my nose at the mess as I walk by, on my way for another much more FUN bike ride instead.
But one particular day, while overwhelmed with all the chaos of the weeds and such, I plunked my sorry self down on the lawn, pretended I was on a bike ride instead, and started pulling weeds.
One. At. A. Time.
Suddenly, it was like the power flicked on. I was racing for other junk in my yard... a picket fence chunk, beat up old metal bucket, birdhouses, and even my garden edger... woa.... who am I?
What was once a sorry mess, turned into one of the nicest features in my yard to date!
Just don't turn around... yet. :)

* Special garden effects... with junk *
Got a metal bucket? Turn it on its side against some flowers, so it has a spilled effect!
I actually dug up the flowers from another part of the yard, then moved the can in. Great instant filler, for free!

* Edge those flowerbeds like a pro! *
Dealing with rough, ragged flower bed edges? Get out that half moon edger and do THIS!
I like to edge once in the spring, and again in the fall.
The first round takes a little muscle, but after that, you're home free. And the outcome will blow you away...

* Add garden structures *
If you have a flowerbed that's just flowers, try plunking down some structures right in the midst of it for interest and instant fillers.
Here I placed a bench tightly against the perennials to resemble a much fuller garden than it really was.
Layered with a cute birdhouse of course!

* Let those perennials go wild! *
There's actually a pay back for not taking super good care of your flowerbeds. They get overgrown... and in spring, it's a beautiful english garden looking kinda thing! (helps to hide the weeds too...)

Got a whole lot happier... thanks to a little bit of junk and elbow grease.
And one less bike ride...
That cute picket fence chunk hiding the water hose on the wall didn't hurt either!
Ohhh, and wait till you see what happens when you cross a chunk of stove pipe with hostas in the early spring. What a happy surprise!
