A Garden Arbor Bench

It is summer and time to enjoy our outdoor spaces. This is a companion offering to my ideas for fencing, to find pleasure for the eye in our gardens.
A backyard garden corner with a seacoast vintage 1970's redwood fence that is shared by three neighbors. My hope was to make something that would attract the eye before it wandered up to view the utility sides of the neighboring houses and urge newly planted cedars to fill in the holes.
In the Arts and Crafts organic tradition, I sculpted the arbor bracing into abstract tree forms to grow out of the stone piers. With wisteria growing over the arbor and a large ceramic urn water feature before the arbor seat, one can sit, lounge or meditate on the garden. Note: I sit and contemplate the artist/builder irony that trees are cut and milled into 2x's, 4x's, etc. lumber. I purchase that lumber and then am compelled to shape it into the forms of trees, albeit abstract.

Great idea. I liked the idea of using stones for the seat support and for making hold up post. Remarkable design. Thanks for sharing.
