Some of my husband's handy-work! Curved doors and gold leaf are a few of the highlights. Designed, built and finished by C & L Millwork- we are true bespoke cabinetry :)
Loretta, I used to work in a very high-end furnture/design store. We carried a very prestigious line called Theorore Alexander - made in Vietnam. This piece is very reminiscent of some of their pieces. Stunning reproduction line. The carvings & gold inlay on your husband's cabinet is really outstanding!
Thank you all so much for the complimentary posts! I will have more pics to post soon- he is finishing a 23,000 sq ft home in the next month or so with LOTS and LOTS of fine cabinetry- or as we like to call it- built in furniture for the home :D Probably one of the finest home we have done in 20 yrs of business and believe me it gets harder and harder to 'top' the last one!
Absolutely - 23.000 SF. Sure wish I could help them pick out furniture - oh that won't work, Your husband is building it all in!! LOL Besides, I don't "DO" that anymore!!
@ lorretta...not sure why anyone would want 23,000 sq feet of house. That is over 10 times the size of my place. The tree hugger in me sees it as a waste of resources, unless there are 10 families living in there.
I recently attended an open house for a "tiny" house in Boulder. This young couple just finished up there project last week. Their tiny house is only 127 sq feet.

I welcome peoples ability to make their own choices, but when their choices impact the planet (negatively) it is a burden that everyone else living on this finite world has to deal with.
@KMS: I viewed the news clip but I think this takes us from one extreme to another!! One burning question comes to mind, why on earth did they build the house and then haul it to where they were going to live in it? Wouldn't it have been ALOT easier to rent a utility trailer or whatever they needed and take their building materials to the site??? Just wondering about the logic here.
To use the "Goldilocks" analogy - the 1st house is just waaay to big, the 127 SF is waaay too small, but my 1900 sf is juuuuust right!!
Susan S....They are not living there full time. They both still have jobs and connections to Boulder. The reason the "house" is built on a "trailer" is to get around dopy building codes. These trailer builds are quite common in the tiny house movement, by staying small they also do not require the extra hassle of pilot vehicles etc that are needed when traditional sized mobile homes are moved. The building codes consider these "homes" a RV...so they do not require many of the normal

home inspections.
After spending some time in their tiny house, my 200 sq ft cabin seems very huge. The perception of space changes quickly when you are limited to 8 feet wide. My cabin is 11 wide (outside) with a 10' high back wall, it also does not have a large partition wall and with its big windows feels much much bigger that it really is.
@KMS - WIDE OPEN SPACES . . .(remember the Dixie Chicks?)
I'll just bet that extra 73sf does make a big difference!! Especially w/higher ceilings, large windows and an open floor plan (Please tell me the "powder room" is enclosed) LOL
I can see their RV being a great weekend get away and I could definitely stand that much coziness - on a limited basis. If things get cramped there's always the great outdoors, right???
@Terri - I've always liked the DC;'s - even after Natalie got in BIG TROUBLE over a political statement she made way back when. I appreciate their talent and really try not to get bothered by celebrities political views. Their harmony was really beautiful!!
Susan...we "relocated" the powder room to the woodshed. ( composting sawdust toilet)...my sweetie wants me to build an "addition" to the wood shed to provide a more "formal" space. One that is more chippy proof. We have a less than full enclosure in the current "shed".
@KMS - While my friend was biuilding his home and I visited, we used an outhouse - just like int the good old days. 18 years later, it's still on his property but now a chicken coop.
@Susan - celebrities or not, we all have our own political views. If I said what she did, then there would not have been such a big stink. I learned that politics is one topic best not discussed period!
@Terri - Exactly. Politics & religion can be real Hot Spots but especially if someone is in the public eye. Which we're not, thankfully. lol
@KMS - So in the dead of night - rain, sleet, snow or hail, you make her grab a flashlight and head to the shed??? How in the world did you get away w/o planning for a proper "indoor space"?? And what is a chippy? Obviously I don't know that much about your part of the world!!
Susan...Our cabin is in Northern New Mexico...which is the high desert...desert.... being the optimum word here. Rain Sleet etc is rare. When it is just me and my sweetie we just water the sagebrush...its my 13 and 11 year daughters that actually use the sawduster to take a leak.
The original cabin plan had / has an alcove that was to be used....I got out voted by three females to provide a more private location ( aka.. use in the shed) The Sawduster is fully portable

and not smelly so it could be brought in, in the dead of winter. So far the "preferred" location is the shed, when the shed remodel is complete it will be 5 star. The "new" addition will have its owner solar powered lights, T&G paneling, tile etc.
Chippy...is generic for chipmunks, rats, squirrels, field mice etc. Those furry friends that prefer to live in the structure I built over digging their own burrow.
@ KMS- believe me, OUR home is *normal sized*- LOL! What really bugs me most about these GINORMOUS homes we make our living off of is that 2 people generally live in them and the pools never have children enjoy them. Luxury real estate holds its value well, and when you have $12,000,000 of 'disposable' cash you have to do something with, it makes sense I guess. A lot of the people we have met over the years have come from 'nothing' and are totally self-made men. I do not covet their

wealth- it comes with it's own host of problems. They are no happier, they just don't have to worry about paying the electric bill :D
Lerretta...Its what we do...that makes us who we are. If I had that kind of green I would pursue my "art" type work but also do some community work...like volunteer at the local humane society.
We'd all love to see more!!
