You could set these using regular thin set...just like for tile...I really love the "flowers" it is a great wa to use up those odd spaces.

There is a paver sand with some sort of epoxy in it that doesn't set until you hose it with water.

@Kelly - the little flowers are no neat and unexpected!! I love that feature.

Can't offer any advise in the "how to" category but people like KMS and other pros are your best guides. Good Luck ;~)

Kelly - LOVE this idea! I have a stone walk, but the cement has lifted in spots and I was wondering how to fill in. I can use these ideas. Now, WHERE can I pull up some stone and add cute flowers like that? Mmmm...

I know I watched a show on hgtv where they used the paver sand with epoxy in it that then you just water it down with water hose....looked simple...check out hgtv.com and see if can find the product

the sand is called polymeric sand...it has a binder in it and hardens when it's wet. i'm going to try this on an old patio.

Do you have a "normal" sidewalk now, and want to make it look like this??

If so, you may want to consider "etching" the concrete before adhering anything to it. Then, as KMS suggests, the stones themselves can be set with a mortar set. When all of your "pebbles" are in place, then you can fill the voids with the polymeric said that DH mentioned. Usually, just before the filler sets, you can brush it with a stiff bristle brush for a finished look.

I used regular grout smoothed all over the area where my design was to be (it was a concrete porch).......layed down the tiles, stones and pebbles, smoothed grout all over the stones and wiped it off of the stones (just as if you were tiling a backsplash or bathroom, fireplace, etc..). It looks great and I have washed it off with the waterhose and it looks the same after a year of walking on it to get into the house.
