Everyone Needs A Friend Mural

This mural is an image of two horses set in a desert background. I painted this one for my 10 yr old daughter because she ADORES horses.
Here is the way her room looked before we painted the mural on her walls. White & extremely BORING!
So the first step was to block in the background. She wanted her horses to be in the desert, so we painted the sky a blue grey and the ground a terra cotta color.
In this picture you can see that we have the outline of the mural all blocked in and ready to go.
Next step is to just fill in the lines much the same way as you would color a coloring book page, except we are using paint and brushes.
Here is another view of the mural.
Now we have both horses all colored in. Now the fun starts. this is when we get to add the details that will bring them to life.
Here is a close up shot of the face on the brown horse.
Now with all the details finished on the horses, I will now start to complete the background details.
Here is the face of the black horse.
So here is the completed mural. Now that BORING white wall has a life of its own. The horses in this mural stand at 5' tall to give you an idea of the completed size of this mural.

This is really awesome. Love to be able to paint horses.

@Marie Richer Clark Just find a picture you like and have it printed onto a plastic paper that can be used on an overhead projector. Then go to your local library or elementary school and ask to check it out for the weekend. The hard part really is sketching the horses onto the wall, but once you have the image on the wall the painting part is really not that difficult.
