Don't Forget the Edging!

When I planned out my backyard transformation, I did not think about edging. So when we had our next thunderstorms, the water ran down to the drain outside my basement door as usual. Unfortunately, the mulch and dirt that was also swept down covered the drain and the water had no place to go but into my basement (which is also my Mom's room :0 ) The room was flooded! So the next day, I had to edge the garden! I learned my lesson the hard way!!!
digging the trench
Edging all in place- all the way from the garage, down the driveway and all along the path to the basement steps.
Edging worked! Just had a thunderstorm- water ran down the edging to the drain at bottom of steps without the mulch and dirt
I added rocks along the edging for appearance

Yes! I thought I was done w my water problems after I had the foundation sealed and redirected some water w little ditch, etc. last year- similar to the things you had to do. I sympathize!

Just had a thunderstorm! The edging worked fine- unfortunately, the drain is so small that even the small pieces of dirt, etc. that washed down were enough to clog the drain and prevent the rain water from going down. Fortunately, I was watching and as I saw the water building up, I cleared off the drain and the water went down.
