Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jun 16, 2013This is a reaction to the dish soap used in the washer. You will need to polish the pot to bring back the shine. A fine steel wool pad or perhaps a fine 3M pad will remove the blackened color that has resulted in this issue.Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Jun 17, 2013@Hortensia S I am not sure if this will work for your problem, but cameo cleanser is fantastic at bringing pots back to normal when food is really burned into it. I am famous for forgetting a cooking pot on the stove at least once a year and usually in the summer when I am gardening. It does polish them up quite nicely.Helpful Reply

Kate Sullivan on Jun 17, 2013Boil tomato juice or vinegar. It will make the inside sparkle, so less work, leaving just the outside to polish.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jun 18, 2013This is most likely due to the Chlorine component of the dish detergent. Have at it with a kitchen scrubbie and once you get it clean do not wash it in the dishwasher...I still am trying to teach my kids this...it only takes about a minute to wash a pan.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jun 19, 2013You tried a green kitchen scrubbie...with lots of elbow grease? the layer will be tough to remove, if the kitchen scrubbie does not work you can up the aggressive nature a bit a use s SOS steel wool pad.Helpful Reply

Capernius on Jun 21, 2015This is just my opinion, so take it as such. Aluminum has been linked to alzheimer's disease, so before you spend the time & energy scrubbing the tar out of this pot, ask yourself, "do I really want this in my home?" I asked myself that very Q years ago, & my answer was, no. no I do NOT want this aluminum pan/pot/etc in my home. Now I am not telling you to do anything....I am only trying to educate you about the negative affects of aluminum. I got rid of every single piece of Aluminum cookware in my home & replaced it with cast Iron & a few pieces of Stainless steel. I no longer use aluminum for anything as far as cookware. Now will this solution work for you? Only YOU can answer that... This might not be the answer you were hoping for, but I hope it helps.Helpful Reply
