Give Old Furniture a New Lease on Life with Home Made Chalk Paint

A simple and easy way to make over wood grain furniture. If you're tired of an old piece of furniture, avoid sanding and stripping with home made chalk paint. I used three shades of the same colour to gain depth and interest and I love this piece now! #chalkpaint #beforeandafter #furniture #makeover #easy #bestof2012

Fantastic!! Wish I would have seen your post before I finished sanding a oak/particle board bookcase! Have you tried the homemade chalk paint since?

Did you use the same receipe, or did you end up adding more water?

Hi Penny Keegan , I used more Plaster of Paris (2 parts paint/1 part PofP) and only enough water to moisten the PofP before adding it to the paint. I've also omitted the water completely. It was very gritty without any water added so I wouldn't recommend doing that. I like the results best with the 2-1 ratio.
