Looking to move to Staten Island, going to see this house next week. What do you think I could do with it?

Landscape and walking path to the front steps; Not sure if that was base board heaters...where are the covers; Kitchen...appliances?; Bathroom...glass door for shower not a shower curtain...; Some color other than beige and brown.

Its a great house, it just needs some color, inside and out.. and your personal touches to make it home!

Skip the grass out front, add a paver walkway and a perennial or rain garden for ease of maintenance.

I think a cobble stone walkway to the front steps would be very nice. Also some colorful flowers such as yellow lilles around the front porch with grass in the open areas would be a timeless look. In the kitchen I think a subway tile back splash with a color on the walls such as oak barrel from Sherwain Williams would look wonderful. I love the house!

about how much can you expect a cobblestone walkway to be? One of a few meters i'm imagining. And what's a good way to start with a garden at the front?

Landscape,. Interior painting. Front walk. Appliances in the kitchen. Do something to dress up the blank brick wall over the porch. Baseboard heat showing. Does it have A/C? Would've been nice to have baseboard heat units that matched the color of the base boards. Myself... I don't like the wainscoting, but my wife does.

What are they asking for it?

Beautiful home with gothic touches. Love the staircase (consider using black door handles to coordinate with the spndles).. Move in with your present furnishings and then decide what you want to keep or what things you will buy new. The kitchen is the heart of the house so I would add a backsplash, black cabinet hardware (has character) , and stainless appliances. Decorating is a matter of what is peasing to you. Flowerbeds, shrubs, and add a curved walkway to the driveway as well as the ...»
walkay to the street. Good luck. The house is beautiful but see what an insection has to say.

the house is gorgeous! the main thing I would do is to paint the walls and rooms in the colors that will compliment your furniture and taste. And then, nothing to do with the house itself - it could use some great curb appeal with some flowers and greenery. Enjoy!!!

Never buy a house without getting it inspected even if it is a new build. A home buyers warranty is nice to have also for the first few years so you can relax a little and spend your money on the house they way you want to.

Is this a new house, or a complete remodel? It's beautiful, mostly just needs some character added with furniture and soft goods. The front door would look better with another color, maybe green- Sherwin Williams Rosemary (#6187) is a nice color, though it's hard to tell the colors of the rock and the siding- monitors always show colors differently.

Whatever else you do, get a home inspection! They're worth every penny.

Home inspection is a must! Inside looks great, just needs some color. Window treatments can add a splash of instant color. I go to the paint department and get color samples and tape them to the walls, then start weeding out the ones I deffinately don't like. Go from there. Make sure you add a little you in.

I like the house. Here are a few suggestions for curb appeal: put in a paved brick sidewalk (do it yourself and save 1/2 the cost), add a gate on the left side to provide some privacy to your side and back yard, add a few bushes and a couple of colorful flower pots or hanging baskets. Inside: once you get your furniture in place, you might want to add a couple of area rugs and repaint to bring out your own personality. Have fun!

You can have up to four different colors on the outside - this includes the roof. Certainly needs some landscaping. Find out what works best for that area of the country and in the warmer months add color with potted plants.

Like others have said, even if it is new construction, get an independent inspection. Cobble stone or tumbled brick for the sidewalk. A pair of chairs and a table for the porch. Maybe some hanging baskets. Some flowers or plants along the sidewalk, annuals for this year and plant perennials in the fall for next year. Landscape lighting along the sidewalk and in front of the porch with more flowers.

Here in VA there are many Victorian homes that have been restored using original colors on the outside. I have been very surprised to find that the colors are amazing! Bright, cheery and several colors that are used for the house, for the trim, for the shutters and for the door. Research a few pictures of Victorian houses and see how beautiful the original colors of these homes are!

Ed if you go to the Lowe's website and type in stone pavers it will show you a variety of different options you could use. They range in price. I checked and there are several lowe,s stores in the Staton Island area. I would begin with the walkway then add the plants around the front porch and then add the grass. You could always consult a landscape expert for some great ideas as well. Good luck and have fun!
