Cut to Fit

Found these letters for a steal in the local Restore when I was out of town. Since there were only two and my name, I knew they were for me. Had to get them in my suitcase and on the airplane home though. They were 30" tall, so I cut them in 1/2 and fit them snuggly into my suitcase before checking it at the airport.
When I got home, I clamped and glued them back together, but needed to hide the repair line before painting.

A raised stencil was a quick and easy solution. I used wall spackling and a stencil and old credit card to apply onto the letters.
I painted it with black chalk paint and used a gold and silver glaze, before applying a poly topcoat.
I plan on using these large letters for my dressing room I'm making in an extra bedroom.
