Thanks to the Hometalk community for helping me identify the label to my table. It was stuck in a shed for many years and was covered with oil, fertilizer and more unmentionables.I have researched the company, specifically this table, and I am not able to access much information. Any ideas?

I wish I could help, but all I can say is it is one of the most beautiful tables ever.

Stille and Duhlmeier was a furniture store based in Ohio. I don't know that the the company is necessarily considered a style as much as a manufacturer.

It is a one of a kind design for sure. Not sure I agree with the maker that the bottom matches the top so well in any sense of design or historical style, but it provides for a unique piece. Midwest origin and design indicates some Scandanavian influence in their use of floating curve and bottom heavy esthetic. I would strip it all down and restore it to original wood stain, it was never meant to be painted.

@Sandy I would still strip down the base and let it breathe natural wood, even with its 'bite marks', otherwise do it a dark so the top shows off, as it is now, the base overwhelms the eye and it looks more damaged with the 'old paint' look. Rather it should be stained natural or maybe a dark satin or semi-gloss Maybe go modern and lacquer it shiny black or a dark maroon.

I have more information about the Stille and Duehlmeier furniture company.

Wm. (Bud) Stille was my uncle. His father, (Stille, Sr.) built a furniture manufacturing company with his partner, (Duehleier), How long ago I am not sure. If I had to guess I would say around the 1930s. At the time they were well-known and manufactured quality furniture in the Cincinnati area.

Old man Stille passed away and Bud Stille his son ran the business until around 1960 when the post office bought all the company property (about a block in Cincinnati) to build a new automated post office on.

When the land was sold the furniture company closed also.

Wm. "Bud" Stille and his wife Vera Mae were my aunt and uncle and also my Godparents. I am now 65 and only have first-hand knowledge of this history from all the family stories Aunt Mae and Uncle Bud would tell me while I was growing up. Both of them passed away many years ago.

Besides myself and my brother, I doubt anyone would have any information about the Stille and Duehlmeier furniture company. I am delighted that a piece of their furniture has survived.

Thank you it was nice talking about 2 of my favorite people that I have not thought about for many years. I never intended to be so long-winded but maybe someone will find this information helpful.
