Your choices are nearly endless. Unfinished cabinet surplus stores, or a dresser or chest in the right height at a salvage yard. Buy something the height you want and you could even add some small rollers on the bottom. Paint in a color you want. You could cover the top with sheet metal, tiles, butcher block, or make your own butcher block top. If you need the top larger, a thick piece of plywood cut the size you want and then cover with whatever you want.

If you do not put it on casters, be sure to leave at least 36" of walk space on all sides. Guidelines push for 42" .... and even 48" for 2 person activities.
  • An old piece of furniture & put glass on the top.

I'm looking for the same thing and just found a dresser on Craig's List for $10 that looks like it might fill the bill. My intention is so removed the door fronts and the drawers... lay in some kind of plank to sit things on because I want to use it to store my pots and pans. My plan is to leave the bottom drawers in tact and use them to hold my tea towels and such.

I haven't heard back from the seller yet... so it may have already been sold... yikes! Doesn't really matter... I'll just keep looking... :)
