DIY Home Made Hummingbird Nectar

Why pay for hummingbird nectar at the retail stores when it is so easy to make yourself?
DIY Hummingbird Nectar: Combine 1/4 c. sugar and 1 c. water together.Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.Boil for five minutes.Allow to cool and pour into a feeder
You can keep any unused hummingbird nectar in the refrigerator for up to five days.
Some people do not boil the nectar. It depends on your water level of fluoride and salt.
Don't use red food coloring. Just decorate your feeder with a red ribbon if it does not have any red on it. See more gardening info:

I don't boil my nectar but I use RO water. I keep wanting to try an idea I saw somewhere (maybe on Hometalk?) to put a button in the water so you can see the water level without adding food coloring, which I don't want to add!
