Where can I buy Serviceberry near Locust Grove? -
any good independent nursery should have them...but can't think of one near Locust Grove -
I love Serviceberry. I use them in many of our designs and installations. I saw several 15 gallon 'Autumn Brilliance' serviceberry trees at Buck Jones Nursery in Grayson while I was there last week. -
Does this tree grow in central Fl? -
I've never seen/heard of a serviceberry. Learn something everyday. Thanks for sharing...now i'm off to Google to find out more -
Charlynn, if you like the serviceberry, try Amelanchier arborea (called the Downy Serviceberry) for florida. It is native to Florida and many other regions. Here's a link for more info, http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?... -
In the north these are commonly referred to as shadblows because they bloom when the shad are running in the spring. One of the earliest bloomers, and a welcome sign that spring is finally on the way. -
Interestingly enough, we were finishing the installation of a water feature for a client and they had a serviceberry that had fruit on it. I found several ripe ones that the birds had not yet eaten. I pulled some off, and I ate a few and shared several with the other members of my crew as well as the homeowner and her son. No one else had ever tried one, but they all agreed that they tasted great. -
I look forward to trying some. I wil add it to my list, I have eaten redbud flowers (not a strong taste but crunchy) and Kousa dogwood fruits. -
Thanks, Walter, in Fayetteville I tried Andy's and Turnipseed's Nurseries and neither one had serviceberry. I'm still looking. I may have to schedule a trip to Grayson.
