Our "Toy Garden"!

My neighbor and I call this our "Toy Garden". We spend day after day walking the beach for sea glass and unique shells. After noticing all the beach toys, flip flops, plastic and trash left littering our beaches, we started bringing extra bags with us and picked up as much as we could find and carry in one trip. Not knowing what to do with all the colorful toys and flip flops, we decided to build a Toy Wall and one thing led to another! We love our place so much and so does everyone who comes over to visit. It's such a happy, colorful place now that we have painted all the chairs!

I've started my little stash!!! Trying to stick to discarded toys... beach is a bit too far to regularly find stuff... have thus far resisted the urge to buy brand new... but... I dunno... there are some sweet little brightly colored plastic chairs... doll size... I may have to buy a few. (I'm telling myself they'd make great small shelves to hold a flower pot on the fence. My 'self', however, keeps saying, "This is SUPPOSED to be recycling... not buying more junk!" (garage sales don't count...)

Jeannie, all the toys and flip flops are found, but the chairs are yard sale and trash finds that we just spray painted. The other stuff, like my ladder made with broken pieces of china I find at local antique and thrift stores, plus make myself.

It's the hunt and actual find that makes it all so special. And about that plastic you found, it's awful to see our beaches littered with the stuff. I felt so discouraged one day while walking on a favorite beach of mine.I needed some incentive to bend over every second and pick up hundreds of tiny pieces of colored plastic. I have dozens of mason jars and unique bottles filled with shells, sea glass and other treasures...I thought, why not start a jar for my colorful plastic? I'll post some pictures!

when you get enough toys you might build a big pile of sand next time on the beach and leave them stuck in there for tomorrow's kids who forgot theirs! The area you have created is very happy.

This is one of the cutest things I have ever seen! (And I would not mind having a couple pairs of those flip flops! HA).

Jeezzzeee! This is on a board fence that is in her private space! The only person who has to like it is her...ACTUALLY I LOVE IT! I fell out giggling when I saw this. You know what? The world gets really sad when someone cannot take the time to have a little fun giggle! So glad I can giggle! I love the fun things people do on HT! I love the time they take to make something out of nothing sometimes. Keep on posting you "Krazzy Hometalkers"!

Take it from where it comes. Mary doesn't have a beach to walk day after day to appreciate what you've done. It's a shame Mary can't appreciate it or keep quiet. Nuff said. I love it!

I love it, We have an autistic daughter and we are building our back yard into a wonderland of whimsical mystical imagination..... I have come to the realization that the only one you need to please is yourself, if you love something, and it gives you pleasure when you look at it, and it doesnt hurt anyone...then just do it. Rock on Christie....We love it
