Don't sew, and want an easy how to get drapes that are long, so I can hang them higher up on the wall. I know the 84inch length will be to short? What ways have you made these without spending alot of money? I am great with a glue gun, or iron on hem stuff. Can you order real long curtains, or do many buy fabric, and do it that way? Help!

  • First I would check for fabric the width you need. You can glue or use hemming tape on the top and bottom ends. Then use a rod with drapery clips for easy hanging. The glue or hemming tape will not usually do well in the washer or dryer though. If you like the look you could also add matching fabric to ready made drapes on the bottom.

Tablecloths are awesome, right width and length - just find the right size to fit window. Also, painter's drop cloths are super. Wash 1st, cut and glue. You can get creative w/both by adding deco trim to leading edge, or top for added style.

How much room do you have above the window? The curtains can (and should) be hung on a curtain rod higher than the window. The next length may be 96" - do you have 96"? The panels can also puddle on the floor (if that works for you). Otherwise, fabric glue will work to hem or can you hand sew the hem? Cindy Varga/Interior Details

We will be moving into the home this weekend, so not sure the height of some of the windows. Great idea on the tablecloths comment, Reinventing Space. There is only pleated blinds on each window, which I don't care for.
