And wind damage. How far back can I cut is what I really would like to know. They are old garden variety roses. I live in Atlanta

No, they are the old garden variety, David Austin's several different ones. I have one that is in pretty bad shape and it was so pretty just a couple of weeks back.

Thanks to everyone...I did my pruning over the past two days...I think even the badly damaged one is going to make a good recovery. I am very happy with the results. The David Austin info. was very helpful. :)
