This is the what not shelf you all helped me identify. The wood was almaost black from age. I didn't want to sand this one. So I used Homer Fornbys refinisher that only takes off the finish but leaves the patina
This is how it looked when we first got it.
The detail was amazing
As you can see it was almost black from age.

There had been a decorative piece on the floating shelves but it was missing. I found this at Lowes and stained it to match the shelves

This is very beautiful, I have never seen anything like it.

So beautiful and so glad you used Formbys instead of painting it. I love painted furniture but this piece is not meant for it.
