Planting Recycled Nifties!

Using paint left at the recycling centers and wood thrown out for trash at the lumber store, I create fun little boxes to put my succulents and other plants. Total cost to create? Maybe $2.
Each piece planned only by what fits the base piece that the walls will be built around. Knobs are from found furniture or sometimes bought at the thrift store.
Details are created from thrown out damaged furniture....sometimes it's very ornate or sometimes simple.
The metallic paints are added, not by spraying directly on, but rather, spraying on a paper napkin, then patting quickly onto the boxes. This gives them a nice old metallic flake look.
Spindles are from trashed chairs.....the ones on the silver box were cut in half so I could use for another project. The swirls are made from hot glue drawn out very quickly.....then the silver paint quickly patted over the whole thing.
Drawer handles found on trashed furniture and wooden handles from a vintage purse finish the details to this box. These are very simple but fun to create projects that can be used indoor or out....always put a finishing coat of clear paint to seal the entire piece.....Or rub on a nice wax to help keep it water proof.
Suggested materials:
  • Scrap wood   (Lumber yards will often have a bin with old scrap pieces. I get mine free but some places will sell )
  • Spray paints and 'other'...   (Check your recycling centers! FREEEEE!)
  • This and that's....pieces like drawer handles, purse handles and other   (It's ok to go neighborhood sidewalk shopping. People put stuff to the curb all the time and once it )
