Cosmos - so Easy to Grow, You Can Plant and Neglect It!

Do you possess a brown thumb instead of a green one? Then this is the flower for you! One of the easiest annuals to grow from seed is the Cosmos.
They are prized for their abundant, silky, daisy like flowers and their very easy-care nature in the garden. They will tolerate even poor soil conditions and make lovely cut flowers. They even seem to thrive on a bit of neglect.
I planted some along my fence line last year and had cut flowers for months from them.
They will get quite tall (about 4 feet or so). Don't fertilize them, or you will end up with lots of foliage and not many flowers.
The annual comes in a ton of colors, but one variety that I just love is this candy cane cosmos.

Hi Carol...I tried growing them in Southern Florida, and no go...you mentioned in an earlier post that they were easy to grow anywhere..did you mean the shorter ones, the Klondyke? I really wanted the pink ones...but I'll try these, if they would do better in Florida...Thanks Love them

lovely! I don't think I have seen this variety before but will be on the look-out soon. One of the agriculture sites said that when people have difficulty growing cosmos its probably due to "over-care" (over watering, over fertilizing, etc)
