My Creative Cottage/Studio

My favorite space, my studio/cottage. We built this about 5 years ago and I still love it. Go here for a step by step:

http://backwoodscottage.blogspot.com/2011/...

We spent about $5000 on materials and we did all the work ourselves. This is a fully insulated, electrically wired with plumbing (a sink for washing out my paint brushes) and it is heated, so this is not just a glorified shed.

My husband knows carpentry so it was not difficult for us but he did create a step by step instruction manual for the novice builder. So far there is nothing I would really do differently unless it would be to put in radiant heat in the flooring instead of using a wall heater.

Check with your local building dept, you may have restrictions or regulations on building something like this in your backyard.

This is the most darling cottage have ever seen. The fact that you built it yourselves adds even more charm. Well done!

That is a nice looking retreat...I need to make sure my sweetie does not see this or I might be tasked with building her one as well.

What a terrific studio to work in. Love the double doors. Would like to see the sides and windows. This is a great little "cottage" and very well should be proud of yourselves for doing it all.

lovely, I to am an artist, I always wanted a octagon on top of our home for a studio, but I really like your idea here, a get away from home , without getting away. Would love to see the inside if possible please.
