Elephant Ear Philidendron

Has anyone seen one that has done this before?

    What you are seeing are a spathe, or modified leaf, surrounding a spadex. Your plant must be happy, and fairly mature, as philodendrons do not produce these at a young age. On some philodendrons these actually produce heat. Enjoy!

    they closed up a bit Douglas....thanks so much for the info....am still quite intrigued....my mother had mature phillys...and dont recall seing this
