This is beyond beautiful! I am in process of remodeling master bedroom (for over 2 yrs now) and still cannot come up with anything close that's in my head...So frustrating!! Have colors down but must mix & this I am not good at. (well at least when it comes to this project) -
Very nice! Sharing ideas like this helps stir the creativity in those viewing it. Thank you for sharing! -
how did you accomplish the weathered look? -
Love these -
I would like to know more about the weathering process, would it work on unpainted wainscotting? -
I have my daughter saving pallets so that I can so this on my ceilings. They are high peak ceilings and I have been dying to cover them with a weathered look of wood. -
Love it! Now, how? -
Okay here goes... Sand the wood if necessary before applying to the wall. My first step was brushing on a wash of grey paint which I mixed up into a bucket. I had rags ready to catch drips and actually rub into the wood to cover the raw wood but allow the natural grain and imperfection to show through. Next I lightly drybrushed a cream color over the grey wash using a wide brush (old worn out brushes work best) and allowing the grey to show through. It should be streaky looking. Next ...» -

Thank you all for the comments. I'm happy to share what I have picked up after 17 years of traveling and painting for Beazer Homes. I learned mostly by experimenting under tight deadlines and just going for it. A little like being shot out of a cannon when everything has to be done in a matter of days. Luckily I worked with great women who were encouraging and always willing to try something new. -
Yes Janet it would work on your wainscotting. -
Heidi hang in there! Maybe you need to bring someone in to help you get a fresh perspective? -
Argyle and Damask! Wow all are great but those two were my faves....wow. -
Wonderful finished products!! How did you end up making a career out of wall art? When did you know this is what you wanted to do? -
Loved the wood and the chandaliers. Awsome! -
Very bold, very unique, very interesting ~ ! Such creative statements ~ ! -
Anita, I absolutely love the wall finish behind the chandeliers! Is it a metallic? I'd love to know what you used to get that look or should I say "what all you used" because this certainly isn't a one step finish. -
Connie this wall was painted in Texas where they are known for using orange peel textured walls and that texture added it's own element to the faux finish. The natural texture of the wall grabbed the paint as I first dragged down the blue undercoat and then dragged a knocked down silver metallic paint with a wet brush for the topcoat. I used a very wide brush for the silver metallic finish and pulled it floor to ceiling for a uniform look. I lightly loaded the brush with silver so as ...» -
Thanks for your reply, Anita. I'm familiar with the orange peel walls. Their texture can be a pro or con depending upon what you are trying to accomplish and it certainly was an advantage in this case. Thanks to your info I may have to try out some sample boards and see what I come up with on my sheet-rock walls. Its such a soft, but striking effect. -
Thank you Connie! I hope you try it out. -
These are absolutely fantastic! -
Thank you Karianne! -
