What color for old bathroom vanity?

I have a classic 1980s vanity. I have included a photo of one that is the exact replica of mine. The difference is that the top is gray laminate and bottom same color. I've completely gutted the small hall bathroom. I'm installing new floor tiles, painting the walls, new faucet, staining existing door and woodwork. The color on the wall is a light aqua color. The name is laguna green from Glidden.
The floor tiles are black marble. Tub is almond.
My husband suggested painting a light brownish grey (heron grey/Glidden) that was listed on the paint card. I found a color online that is a deep raspberry shadow/Glidden (dark raspberry chocolate). The vanity top is in excellent shape. I am changing out the 1980s faucet!
I like the idea more of the dark color. The bathroom is small. My house was built in 1988.
Thanks for any ideas.

The problem with the darker color is it will show dust. The gray will reflect more light in the room and make it seem larger. On the other hand, you could paint the cabinet a dark raspberry chocolate. That would look sharp!

Agreed. Keep in mine you can always accessorize with rugs and towels in that color.

With a gray counter top and aqua walls, you might want to think about painting the cabinet a very light gray and then antique it with a dark gray. You did not mention what color the tile or what color the stain will be for the door and woodwork. So this suggestion might not flow with those colors. Have fun in the process!

No matter how you decorate a small bathroom, it's still a small bathroom. Your new dark tile flooring will be anchoring the room and the aqua wall color sounds beautiful. I'd be tempted to paint the cabinet dark as well, to blend in with the darker floor. If the tub is almond, I think it would be worth it to switch out the sink to match it. There are loads of sink/vanity combinations at home stores that are not expensive but are major improvements over the original you currently have. As long as you're doing such a big renovation I say do the new vanity and sink. In the long run you'll be happier.

The raspberry shadow, I painted this color as an accent wall and it looked like a crime scene.

I like the idea of the light gray.
