Faucet Handle Cleanup-Suggestions for Hardwater Deposits?

I installed this oil-rubbed bronze Delta faucet 3 years ago and it has hard water deposits on it. I was going to remove it and soak it in a bath of white vinegar to remove the residue. But does anyone have a better suggestion or encountered the same problem. Thanks everyone. www.homerepairtutor.com

Just wet a paper towel with vinegar and wrap it around the area you want cleaned and allow it to sit abit. Love your pages.

Thanks Jennifer for your tip and compliment. Have you done this with your own faucet handles?

    Jennifer,

I wanted to let you know that your suggestion worked out great. Here is a picture of my handle. I left the bounty towel saturated in white vinegar on the handle for about 2 hours. Looks great. Thanks again.

Try CLR it removes soap scum and hard water build up.

Thanks Theresa for your tip. I did see success with the white vinegar but for tougher buildup will keep CLR in mind.

I use mineral oil on my stainless steel faucet.

Thanks Sherry for the tip. Does the mineral oil clean and prevent future buildup?

Install a water softener. It should end your issue.

Thanks TyJax for your reply. You're totally right, that's what I should be doing immediately because the hardness of the water is having a detrimental effect on all our appliances.

We have extremely hard water. Because my husband has been ill (CHF and A. FIB) the water softener has not been filled. Going to ask neighbor to fill it for me. In the meantime, stainless steel sink, faucets and non-glass shower doors are a mess!! Dishwasher NEEDS to be cleaned. Glass is coming out "foggy" looking. HELP!!!!

Thanks I have the exact same problem with my kitchen faucet. Will try the vinegar trick.

CLR took the finish off of my bronze faucet. Thankfully I only used it on one part of the faucet, but it took the finish off of the drain cover also, A fairly new faucet, wasn't cheap, set was bought at Lowe's a few years ago. Any suggestions on how to refinish ?
