Would it look weird to have a front screened porch?

I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have a screened in porch. However, my covered porch is on the front of the house and most screened porches are in the back. Our house is 2-story with a porch across the front of the house - kind of a country-looking house. What do you think? Would it look weird to have a front screened porch?

We will be building a porch and I wanted to make it a screened porch but my DH doesn't like the idea. I have seen several front screen porches and I love the idea.

Who ever said a screened porch is only for the back of the house?! I have seen many front screened porches and they look great. Lots of ideas on the site Janet provided.

Front screened porches are popular in many places around this country. Especially where mosquitos and gnats thrive. I say go for it.!

Porches are wonderful additions to homes. Screen it in and enjoy being "outside" without the hassle of bugs!

Thank you-all so much! Your responses have given me the confidence to go ahead with this project. I don't know why I get so hung up on things like this. It's my house, after all!

My mom has a screened front porch with heavy wire on the outside so she can let her cats out on the porch. They love it and it is beautiful the way she used pickets and screened all the way to the floor.

Go for it, Sandy! Front screened porches are very southern, very comfortable, and very friendly. Wish I could do it, but my front covered area is too small and the architecture of the house doesn't lend itself to making the porch larger. :-P Enjoy for both of us.
