Annie Sloan soft wax over latex paint

Hi all. I am painting a lovely old dresser for my daughter. She asked me not to use chalk paint and has picked out a bright vibrant color for the project. I am wondering if I can use my ASCP soft wax to finish it? I don't like the look of polyacrylic on painted pieces and would rather not have to buy a different brand of wax. Thanks!

You can simply choose a latex paint that has a sheen that you find attractive...latex paint comes in flat to full gloss.
