Recently we have been redecorating the master bedroom going with lighter colors. The wicker on these lamps are a little too dark and not giving the ideal farmhouse style look we were looking for. Not letting that stop us from using them, it was decided the table lamps would get a DIY lamp makeover. Thinking how can we give these lamps a farmhouse look, first thing that came in mind was a checkered pattern. What would you think or do to give these lamps a farmhouse look?
After and Before
Lamp base was sectioned off in equal parts

Tip: In my opinion this is the best tape, what I love about it is the safe-release especially working with wicker and not wanting to damage it while lifting the tape
the smaller weaved wicker within the blue tape was painted in with white chalk paint all around the entire lamp base. taking the sponge brush using the tip lines were drawn down connecting the squares, then coming back and connecting them across to complete squares all around the entire lamp base. Let dry
a tan wash was applied to the entire lamp base to create a weathered look

To bring back some more of the white after the lamp dried, a white wash was done the same way as the tan wash. After both wicker lamps were completely dried a clear coat was applied
